Considering the constant violations of SOPs by the public and failure of the government to enforce them during the second wave of COVID-19, Pakistan will experience the third wave of Coronavirus outbreak as well, Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has warned.
While addressing a press conference, General Secretary PMA, Dr. Qaiser Sajjad, recalled that Pakistan did not report a single case of coronavirus till 26 February this year and PMA on numerous occasions requested the government to implement preventive measures to avoid the viral outbreak.

However, the government did not pay heed to PMA and allowed the disease to spread all over the country.
So far, more than 475,000 people have been infected and 10,000, including 154 doctors, have lost their lives over the course of two waves of COVID-19 in Pakistan.

Dr. Sajjad urged the public to adhere to SOPs to avert the third wave of the viral infection in Pakistan and implored the government to strictly enforce restrictions.
PMA also requested both government and opposition parties to postpone political rallies, protests, and gatherings for the next three months to contain the spread of COVID-19.
