Redmi K40 Series Will Be Launched Next Month With Snapdragon 888

Xiaomi’s offshoot Redmi is readying to launch its flagship K40 series next month. Like every year, the series will consist of the vanilla Redmi K40 and the maxed-out Redmi K40 Pro that will be powered with the latest Snapdragon 888 mobile platform. The news was recently revealed by Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing on Weibo.

According to his post, apart from packing Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset, the smartphone will come with a flat display that Weibing touts as “the most expensive flat screen”. We are unsure of what he means by that. Previous leaks and rumors suggest that the handset will feature a high refresh rate display but they don’t entail whether it will be an LCD panel or an AMOLED. Last year’s Redmi K30 series featured an LCD panel which was a huge disappointment for the Redmi K-series fans.

Furthermore, Weibing has revealed that the smartphone will be fueled by a battery cell larger than 4000 mAh. Although we don’t have the actual capacity, previous leaks suggest that it will come with 33W fast wired charging support. He claims that the device will be one of the best in the market and will compete with the top-tier flagship devices.

Lastly, the Snapdragon 888 powered Redmi K40 will launch for CNY 2,999 in China which equals about $463.
