UK Scammers have been tricking unsuspecting people into paying money in return for unidentified COVID-19 vaccines.
A wide-scale Coronavirus vaccination campaign is being held across the UK by the state-owned National Health Service (NHS) which offers free healthcare including vaccine administration.
According to Wales’ Health Minister, Vaughan Gething, numerous reports have confirmed that scammers have been duping citizens into receiving fake COVID-19 vaccine jabs in return for payment.
The Minister said that NHS services are free and it will never ask for payment in return for service including administration of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Last week, UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) had also requested citizens to exercise caution after reports emerged that scammers have been defrauding vulnerable older adults by falsely offering them COVID-19 vaccines in return for payment, with some victims receiving fake or non-existent vaccines.
DG National Economic Crime Centre at the NCA, Graeme Biggar, had said that the current level of reported fraud in relation to the Coronavirus vaccine remains very low but is increasing as the viral outbreak continues to grip the UK.
