The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) to heed the grievances of the candidates regarding the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2020 and instructed the candidates to approach the PMC to resolve their complaints.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah conducted a hearing of a petition filed by candidates against the PMC’s violations in the test.

During the hearing, the counsel for the candidates said that changes had been made in the syllabus, test dates, and the results.
He argued that entrance examinations do not fall under the jurisdiction of the federal government but are a subject of the provincial government. The Chief Justice responded that the PMC regulatory authority does not fall under the provincial domain.
PMC’s lawyer contended that the provinces used to conduct separate written examinations earlier but now there is only one written test for the whole country for which the results are displayed online.

The petitioner’s lawyer argued that the Peshawar High Court (PHC) had sought papers from the PMC to which the Chief Justice said that it is not the job of the Supreme Court to interfere in academic matters and ordered the PMC to resolve the complaints of the students.
