Official Huawei Mate X2 Launch Date Revealed

Huawei’s next foldable phone is going official on February 22, the brand revealed today on the Chinese social media Weibo. The announcement comes only a few days after a report speculated the Huawei Mate X2’s design and launch date.

The announcement poster for the Mate X2 shows that it will adopt an inwards folding design similar to the Galaxy Fold lineup. This goes in line with numerous reports over the past year that speculated a shift in terms of design.

Previous reports also revealed that the foldable will have an 8.01-inch screen with a resolution of 2480 x 2222. It will also have a secondary screen on the outside similar to the Galaxy Fold lineup which will be a 6.45″ panel. Both these displays will feature a 90Hz refresh rate and will be sourced by Samsung and BOE.

The Mate X2 will be powered by the 5nm Kirin 9000 SoC and will boot Android 10. Battery capacity will be 4,400 mAh and will have support for 66W fast charging. As per usual, we also expect to see remarkable camera quality, though there is no information on camera specifications as of yet.

Over the upcoming weeks, we expect to see design renders as well as more detailed specifications for the Huawei Mate X2, so stay tuned.
