The Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication met under the Chairmanship of Member National Assembly (MNA) Ali Khan Jadoon, in Parliament House, here today.
After a thorough discussion, the committee recommended the Public Sector Development Program proposals (PSDP) of the Ministry of Information Technology Telecommunication (MOIT&T) and Special Communication Organization (SCO) for the year 2021-22 for the ongoing and new projects.

The committee commended the performance of the SCO and decided to continue scrutinizing the remaining proposals of the organizations under the MOIT&T in its next meeting.
While taking serious note of the non-compliance with its recommendation made in its previous meeting regarding the provision of fiber optics to District Malir, Karachi, the committee directed for the provision of the same within 30 days.

It also directed the MOIT&T to pursue the provision of quality telecommunication and internet services to the remote areas of the country, and Balochistan in particular.
The committee also decided to hold a briefing on the projects funded by the Universal Service Fund (USF) for provision of telecommunication services to remote and underserved areas.
