5G Trials: PTCL Group Achieves Highest Network Speed in Pakistan

Last week was a major time for telecom sector of Pakistan as PTCL Group achieved highest data speed of 1.685 Gbps at a successful 5G Trial in a limited environment held at PTCL Headquarters.

Like we reported before, other telcos here in local market conducted 5G trials as well, however, PTCL’s trial produced the highest test speed for any 5G trial in the country.

Jafar Khalid, Group CTIO – Development (PTCL & Ufone), shared the results of PTCL’s 5G trial speed test on LinkedIn, where a whooping 1.685 Gbps speed was achieved on a mobile device.

Just in case if you are wondering that what PTCL has to do with 5G trials and that why Ufone isn’t getting the mention, the trials were conducted under the group umbrella, whereby both Ufone and PTCL were involved in the attempt.

Not to mention, once the 5G technology would be allowed to be deployed by the government in the country, besides Ufone, PTCL would also be actively involved in 5G roll-out to capitalize countless fixed line applications of  5G technology.

In the future, 5G technology’s social impact will be phenomenal as it will transform the lives of people living in remote areas of the country with access to quality education and medical facilities through digital means.

The PTCL Group in its 5G Trial ceremony at PTCL Headquarters demonstrated multiple use cases including remote surgery, Cloud gaming, high-speed downloading and an overview of anticipated 5G technology applications in Pakistan.

5G is expected to be launched by the end of 2022 in Pakistan and it can open up new avenues of business, education, health and daily life transformation.
