Punjab Approves Increase in Interest-Free Loans for Healthcare Professionals

Punjab’s Minister for Health, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, has directed the Managing Director of the Punjab Health Foundation, Dr. Kiran Khurshid, to expand the services for interest-free loans to doctors and health practitioners in order to promote and finance the development of the health sector across the province.

The provincial Minister for Health chaired the 30th meeting of the Punjab Health Foundation’s Board of Directors at the Specialized Health and Medical Education Department on Tuesday.

The meeting approved recruitments to IT posts, increasing the loan limit, and the agenda items of the previous meeting.

Dr. Rashid remarked that Rs. 350 million had been disbursed to the beneficiaries and that Prime Minister Imran Khan had allowed for the provision of maximum interest-free loans to healthcare professionals. The amount of interest-free loans has been increased and health workers can now avail of loans of up to Rs. 5 million.

The Special Secretary of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, Silwat Saeed, Prof. Dr. Mahmud Shaukat, Mian Zahidur Rehman Bata, Prof. Javed Chaudhry, and members of the board attended the meeting.
