HEC Teams Visit Varsities to Evaluate Their Performance

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has successfully concluded evaluation visits of three HEC-recognized higher education institutions through Institutional Performance Evaluation (IPE) and Postgraduate Program Review (PGPR).

HEC’s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) teams visited the University of Gujrat, the University of Lakki Marwat, and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana, over the three days of the campaign. The commission intends to evaluate 15 higher education institutions/universities by June 2021.

IPE is a holistic review of an institution or a university that evaluates the overall performance of an institution based on 11 IPE standards, which are:

  1. Mission Statement and Goals
  2. Planning and Evaluation
  3. Organization and Governance
  4. Integrity
  5. Faculty
  6. Students
  7. Institutional Resources
  8. Academic Programs and Curricula
  9. Public Disclosure & Transparency
  10. Assessment and Quality Assurance
  11. Student Support Services

Similarly, the PGPR checked whether or not an institution is implementing HEC’s minimum criteria for offering MS/MPhil and Ph.D. programs. The process aims to improve the higher education sector to achieve the ultimate objective of quality education.

These evaluations are conducted by engaging peers from other universities, including vice-chancellors/rectors and academia, not below Associate Professors and Directors of Quality Enhancement Cells (QECs).
