OnePlus 9 Launches on March 23rd With Several Camera Features and Improvements

The next generation of OnePlus phones is coming on March 23, as confirmed by the Chinese company through a teaser poster today. This launch will also mark the beginning of OnePlus’s partnership with Swedish photography brand Hasselblad, which will be used for the company’s handsets.

This partnership is set to last three years with OnePlus investing $150 million in R&D to improve its camera performance for the next few years.

The partnership has also resulted in the development of an exclusive feature for OnePlus phones. The feature is called Hasselblad Camera for Mobile and it will help preserve color accuracy and natural colors in shots taken from OnePlus phones, starting from the OnePlus 9.

OnePlus founder and CEO Pete Lau commented on this development saying:

OnePlus has always prioritized a premium user experience over everything else. Beginning in 2021, we are making a concerted effort to significantly improve the smartphone camera experience for our users, with the expertise of a truly legendary partner in Hasselblad.

OnePlus 9 will also get an all-new Pro mode for the camera app based on Hasselblad’s image processing software for professional-level controls. Some of the tweaks will include improved white balance, ISO adjustments, exposure and focus management, and more. The flagship will also have support for the 12-bit RAW format for more true-to-life colors and better dynamic range.

The OnePlus 9 series will debut a custom Sony IMX 789 sensor capable of recording 4K videos at 120FPS, dual native ISO, full-pixel omnidirectional focusing, real-time HDR video shooting, and more. It will also bring a freeform lens, akin to the Huawei Mate 40 series, enhanced panoramic camera angles, and T Lens for faster focus on the front camera.
