PDMA Issues Warnings for Land Slides Across KP

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) issued a rain alert on Tuesday about possible landslides in several parts of the province between Thursday and Sunday.

The meteorological department has warned that rain may trigger land sliding that may cause floods in the vulnerable areas of the province.

The PDMA has forecast rains and thunderstorms with snowfall in various areas including Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kohat, Peshawar, Kurram, Waziristan, and Bannu.

The Met Office has sent a letter to the concerned Deputy Commissioners to take preventive measures to avoid losses of life and property. The concerned departments and emergency staff have also been directed to remain on alert.

Tourists have been advised to avoid visiting hilly areas during this period and to contact the PDMA helpline 1700 in case of an emergency.
