Babar Azam’s T20I Ranking Continues to Drop

Pakistan’s all-format captain Babar Azam’s lackluster form in the T20 series against South Africa has affected his international rankings in the shortest format.

An update released on Wednesday reveals that Azam has dropped by one place to the fourth position in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) T20I batsmen rankings.

Australia’s White-ball captain, Aaron Finch, has gained two spots to second owing to his performances in the five-match T20 series against New Zealand. Meanwhile, England batsman Dawid Malan is still at the top with 915 rating points.

Azam is the only Pakistani batsman to be included in the top-ten. The next highest-ranked Pakistani batsman after him is Mohammad Hafeez at the 42nd position with 486 rating points.

The seasoned all-rounder is enjoying a golden run with the bat, scoring his career-best of 99* off 57 balls against New Zealand in the final game of the series.

Unfortunately, Hafeez was not part of the national squad for the South Africa home series. He is, however, in contention for the South Africa tour in April in which Pakistan will play four T20Is against the Proteas.
