National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has written a letter to the Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) for initiating an investigation into the accusations of misuse of powers, illegal appointments, and corruption in the commission.
According to the letter, NAB has also asked Chairman HEC, Tariq Banuri, to immediately furnish the details of the expenses of the inauguration ceremony of HEC Academy.

Besides, NAB has sought the details of recruitment of HEC’s Director Legal, Tariq Masood, Managing Director QAA, Nadia Tahir, Director General Services, Azhar Latif, and Advisor M&E, Noor Amna Malik.
A spokesperson for HEC, Ayesha Akram, has confirmed that the commission has received the letter from NAB, seeking comprehensive answers to some questions and details of expenses.
While Chairman HEC, Tariq Banuri, has not been summoned, his reply has been sent to NAB, the spokesperson added.
