Punjab Announces Decision on Closure Medical Colleges and OPDs

The government of Punjab has announced the closure of all public and private medical colleges and nursing schools across the province for ten days, starting Monday.

The provincial Health Department had issued a notification in this regard on Sunday.

However, the MBBS and BDS examination schedules will be conducted as scheduled.

In a separate development, the provincial government has also decided to close the OPDs in the public hospitals of seven districts that are most affected by the coronavirus.

As per the official announcement, the OPDs of four departments (Dermatology, NNT, Dentistry, and Ophthalmology) will remain closed until 20 April while the other OPDs will operate as usual.

The districts where the OPDs will be closed are Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Multan.

The provincial government has declared that patients will not be allowed to enter hospitals without face masks, and those without masks will be provided masks before entering hospitals.

The decision regarding the OPDs closure will be reviewed on 20 April.
