Here’s How Many People Die Every Year Due to Road Accidents in Pakistan

The DIG of the National Highways and Motorways Police South Zone, Ali Sher Jakhrani, has revealed that over 30,000 people die and thousands are permanently disabled due to road accidents every year in Pakistan and added that most of the victims are youngsters.

The DIG addressed a seminar organized by the Motorway Police at Hamdard University and highlighted the importance of road safety.

According to the DIG Motorway, the majority of the victims of road accidents are between the ages of 18 and 29, who mostly use motorcycles as a mode of transport and exhibit extreme carelessness on the road in addition to refusing to wear helmets.

Sector Commander N-5 South-III, Syed Farhan, Motorway Police South Zone Mobile Education Team Inspector, Umar Bin Tafzal, Inspector Javed Zaidi, and DIG Jakhrani spoke to the students of Hamdard University and informed them that awareness about road safety is essential for both drivers and pedestrians.

Pedestrians must use sidewalks when walking beside roads, and make use of overhead bridges or zebra crossings when they have to cross the roads.
