After launching the Huawei Nova 8 SE in November and Nova 8 and 8 Pro in December last year, the company has now launched another handset in the series, Huawei Nova 8 Pro 4G reminiscent of the Nova 8 Pro 5G. Nevertheless, even though it is a 4G variant of the Pro model, it comes with several improvements.
Design and Display
The smartphone does not come with a design overhaul, rather features a pill-shaped camera aisle and a dual punch hole similar to other handsets in the series. It is built around a 6.72-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2676 x 1236 pixels. The display comes with support for a 120 Hz refresh rate. For comparison, the 5G variant supports a 90 Hz refresh rate.
The fingerprint reader is mounted inside the display.
Internals and Storage
The handset comes with Kirin 985 SoC at the helm paired with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB UFS 2.2 storage. There is no microSD card slot for storage expansion.
You get Android 10 with Huawei’s EMUI 11 on top with no Google services or apps.
Cameras
Around the back, the Huawei Nova 8 Pro 4G has a quad-sensor camera. The main camera is a 64 MP sensor that comes alongside an 8 MP ultrawide unit, and a duo of 2 MP cameras for depth sensing and macro photography. This camera setup can record 4K videos at 30FPS and slow-motion videos in HD resolution.
For selfies, it offers a dual-camera setup with a 16 MP sensor and a 32 MP ultra-wide cam.
Battery and Pricing
The smartphone packs a 4000 mAh battery cell with support for 66W fast charging that can charge the device from 0 to 100% in only 35 minutes.
Although the company has not revealed the pricing and availability details of the phone, its 5G model was launched with a $615 price tag. Hence, we can expect it to cost similarly.
