One of the key features of any flagship handset nowadays is a stellar camera that is designed to beat the competition. Xiaomi has been trying to do the same. Over the years, the company has focused a chunk of its R&D on making its smartphone cameras better.
Now, according to a recent leak by the infamous Digital Chat Station, the Chinese company is gearing up to launch a new smartphone that will come with a whopping 200 MP imaging sensor. For those who don’t know, currently, 108 MP is the largest camera sensor that a smartphone offers.
The sensor will most likely come from Samsung and is expected to have 0.64um unit pixel, but far less than the 1.4μm unit pixel area of ISOCELL GN2. However, since we don’t have a lot of information about the sensor, we don’t know what to expect.
In addition to this, well-known leakster @IceUniverse recently revealed that Samsung is planning to launch a new innovative sensor this year under the company’s ISOCELL lineup that will have a 200 MP image sensor. There is a high chance that Digital Chat Station is talking about the same sensor. Moreover, after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21, the company hinted that it was developing a 200 MP imaging sensor as the successor of the 108 MP sensor that came with S21.
For now, this is all we know but more details will be revealed soon.
