Govt Introduces More Initiatives Under Sehat Card Scheme

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has improved the Sehat Card Plus Scheme and turned it into a comprehensive social health protection package through the introduction of a number of initiatives for the public.

The provincial Chief Minister, Mahmood Khan, chaired a meeting to discuss matters pertaining to improvements in health coverage under the Sehat Card Plus Scheme. During this meeting, he decided to launch a top-up program to provide special medical treatment packages to both government employees and the general public.

According to an official handout, the CM has decided to cover liver and bone marrow transplants under the scheme across the province.

He has decided to increase the annual health coverage for the residents of the tribal districts to Rs. 1 million from Rs. 0.6 million per family under the scheme.

The government will also ensure the timely payments of funds to the designated hospitals, and will monitor the entire process through a third body to provide quality treatment to patients in addition to overseeing the facilities.

The meeting was attended by the Provincial Minister for Health, Taimur Saleem Jhagra, the Chairman State Life Insurance Corporation, Shoaib Hussain, the Secretary Health, Imtiaz Hussain, and others.
