Govt Imposes Complete Lockdown in Lahore on Weekends

Civil administration of Lahore has decided to impose a complete lockdown in the city on Saturdays and Sundays to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the provincial capital.

According to Commissioner Lahore Division, Muhammad Usman, the citywide lockdown will be applicable on markets, businesses, and shops alike.

However, essential services such as grocery stores, pharmacies, food shops, and petrol pumps will remain exempted from the complete lockdown on Saturdays and Sundays.

While urging the citizens to procure essential items for the weekend today, Commissioner Lahore said that the citywide lockdown will come into effect tomorrow.

Commissioner Lahore added that the efforts of the government in curbing the spread of Coronavirus will never be successful unless the public cooperates with the civil administration by adhering to COVID-19 SOPs.

Meanwhile, the Punjab cabinet in its meeting on Thursday with Chief Minister, Sardar Usman Buzdar, in the chair mulled over imposing complete lockdown before Eid-ul-Fitr in the cities with a high prevalence of Coronavirus.

Punjab cabinet’s committee on Coronavirus will now review the proposal of complete lockdown and will forward its recommendations to the National Command and Operation Center for final decision.
