iPhone 13 to Feature Samsung-Made 120Hz Displays

Rumors about the iPhone 13 series featuring a 120 Hz refresh rate display have been making rounds on the internet for a while now.

Recent reports from the South Korean publication The elec confirms the news that the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will get the new LTPO AMOLED screens with 120 Hz refresh rates. The displays have been made by Samsung Display and will be connected to the mainboard using the more expensive RFPCB (Rigid Flexible Printed Circuit Boards) instead of the dated FPCB. The RFPCBs are also being sourced through Samsung Electro-Mechanics.

For those who don’t know, LTPO panels are more power-efficient than their LTPS counterparts and also support an adaptive refresh rate without requiring any additional hardware.

As far as other phones in the series are concerned, i.e., iPhone 13 and 13 Mini, they will feature last year’s LTPS panels with a 60Hz refresh rate. However, according to experts, Apple is planning to shift to LTPO OLEDs for all its iPhone models by next year.

For now, Samsung is currently the only company that can meet Apple’s requirements but rumors suggest that Cupertino is in talks with LG and will source some of its display panels from the company for the iPhone 14.
