Asif Ali Lashes Out at All His Haters After Scoring First 50 in Ages

Islamabad United’s middle-order batsman, Asif Ali, has hit back at his critics after a match-winning performance against Lahore Qalandars on Sunday.

Asif produced a match-saving 75 off 43 balls under pressure and lifted his team from a precarious situation of 20/5 to a total of 152/7.

He was picked as the Man of the Match for his performance that helped his side beat table-topper Qalandars by 28 runs.

Speaking after the match, Ali maintained that he is wrongly touted as a ‘four-over batsman.’

“Except for Islamabad United, nobody trusts my batting and backs it. Some people think that I’m only a player who can bat four overs and my message to them is that this is not the case and whenever I get the opportunity, like today, I will perform well,” said Ali.

“We were 20/5 and under a lot of pressure. We [Asif and Iftikhar] wanted to bat deep and set a good total on the board, which we did according to the nature of the pitch,” he added.

His phenomenal batting display coupled with Muhammad Musa’s 18/3 helped Islamabad United perch top of the points table with five wins from seven games. They will face Karachi Kings in today’s encounter.
