The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has passed a new law for plot owners that requires them to have specific types and numbers of plants irrespective of the size and usage of their lands.
The new law is expected to be implemented for existing residential buildings as well, as per a press release issued on Tuesday.
The new law is aimed at enhancing the greenery and beauty of the federal capital by increasing the forest/tree cover in all the housing societies and sectors, and applies to government buildings, schools, and colleges as well.
Regarding schools, it has been reported that free saplings will be distributed among students in a bid to make them responsible and environment-loving citizens.
It is worth mentioning that the CDA intends to plant more than 700,000 plants during the summer under the new law.
