The Director of Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control (ET&NC), Iftikhar Bhalli, has reportedly taken notice of the excessive delays in the issuance of registration cards and number plates to vehicle owners and has ordered the department to resolve the issue promptly.
He has reportedly issued strict instructions to the department officials to determine the reasons behind the delayed issuing of the registration cards and number plates and told them to give him a detailed report about the matter while suggesting solutions to it as well.

The new computerized system for the issuance of number plates and vehicle registrations is meant to make the entire process convenient and quick for the public. However, the current situation is reportedly on the contrary as applicants have to wait for months to receive their registration cards and license plates.

Owing to this, the Direct ET&NC has issued stern orders to his subordinates to identify the issues and resolve them quickly. He reckoned that either the courier services are delaying despatching the numbers plates and smart cards, or there is something critically wrong in the system which must be addressed immediately.
He ended the meeting with a word of caution to the employees, stating that if anyone is found to be underperforming, strict action will be taken against them.
