Petition Filed Against Fawad Chaudhry Over Comments On TikTok Ban

A petition has been filed against Fawad Chaudhry in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for his criticism of the Sindh High Court’s verdict in a tweet.

According to the details, the petitioner has requested the capital court to initiate contempt proceedings against the federal minister who recently berated the judiciary for allegedly causing heavy losses in billions of rupees to the country’s technology sector.

The petition also requested the IHC to enquire about a previous court order for the de-notifying of the appointments of Arif Usmani as the President of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and of Zubair Soomro as Chairman of the Board of Directors (BoD).

The IHC bench presiding over the case had previously accepted the de-notification request through a short order that consented to the petition in question that the appointments had been made in direct violation of the constitutional rights that ensured equal opportunity for all citizens.
