The Ministry of Climate Change will launch new projects for the youth, women, and local communities to generate 200,000 green jobs by the end of 2021.
An official stated that the local community will partake in the creation of green jobs through a program about Lake Manchar in Sindh.
“Similarly, another program will also be initiated in Dera Ismael Khan where the local community will be provided with green jobs through nature-based solutions,” the official said.
The ministry has decided to create green jobs with the help of the Green Stimulus Initiative after discussing them with the higher authorities.
It has also prepared a financial model for the green jobs that will be funded by the Ecosystem Restoration Fund.
The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, Malik Amin Aslam, said, “The number of green jobs will reach 200,000 at the end of this year and it will continue to increase in the coming years”.
