Saudi Arabia Announces SAR 50,000 Fine and Jail Time for Visa Overstayers

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has announced a sweeping crackdown on foreigners who remain in the Kingdom illegally after their visas expire, warning that violators will face severe legal consequences.

In a statement issued Monday, the ministry confirmed that any foreign national who fails to depart the Kingdom by the designated deadline will face strict action under Saudi law.

Penalties include fines of up to SAR 50,000, imprisonment of up to six months, and subsequent deportation.

The ministry stressed that Saudi Arabia enforces its immigration regulations with zero tolerance and will not accept violations of residency, labour, or border laws under any circumstances.

Authorities urged all foreign nationals to monitor their visa expiry dates, depart the Kingdom on time, and fully comply with Saudi laws to avoid legal action and penalties.

The ministry also directed the public to report immigration violations by calling 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and 999 in all other regions of the Kingdom.
