The Government of Balochistan has warned that it will cut off the supply of water from the Hub Dam to Karachi after the provinces have started arguing over the shortage of water.
The spokesperson for the Government of Balochistan Liaquat Shahwani addressed a press conference in Islamabad in which he blamed the Government of Sindh for not releasing enough water for Balochistan, and urged the Water and Power Regulatory Authority (WAPDA) to provide Balochistan its share of water under the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) rules.

He stated that “Sindh is supplying 42% less water to Balochistan […] the province is getting only 7,000 cusecs of water from Sindh,” and claimed that “Chief Minister Sindh has refused to provide Balochistan its due share of water”.

Shahwani said that Sindh’s stubbornness is costing Balochistan Rs. 75-77 billion, and that “the Sindh government is hell-bent on turning Balochistan’s lands dry”.
“Our due right share, according to the Indus River System Authority (IRSA), is 10,900 cusecs, including a shortfall of 30% which is 14,000 cusecs, but Sindh is providing 7,000 cusecs water,” he added.
