The federal government amped up the inoculation process in the country and administered a record half a million doses of coronavirus vaccines on Monday.
According to Asad Umar, the Federal Minister for Planning and Development, who also heads the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), a total of 525,000 vaccines were administered on Monday.
“For the first time, we crossed half a million doses of vaccination yesterday,” tweeted the NCOC chief, adding that the highest ever first dose was also achieved yesterday with 0.39 million first doses administered.

He vowed to further increase the pace of the immunization process in the future.
Pakistan began its vaccination drive against coronavirus in February this year, and since then it has administered over 20 million first and second doses of vaccines.
Pacing up the vaccination process is the need of the hour as the fourth wave of COVID-19 is just starting in the country.

The daily caseload has been on an upward trend since July 7 for the entire week before the country saw a slight drop in cases on Monday and Tuesday.
Another 21 people died of coronavirus in Pakistan in the last 24 hours, while the country recorded 1,590 new cases on Tuesday.
According to the NCOC data, a total of 43,790 tests were conducted on July 12 out of which 1,590 people tested positive for coronavirus, showing a positivity ratio of 3.63%.
