While talking to a mainstream media outlet, the Chairperson of the All Pakistan Motorcycle Assemblers (APMA), Sabir Sheikh, stated that the demand for motorcycles has skyrocketed ever since the lockdown was lifted last year and that the suppliers have been having a hard time keeping up with the demand for motorcycles and their spare parts since then.

He explained that the suppliers are unable to keep up with the demand, and dealers are charging “own money” from customers. Own money is the illegal selling price through which a dealer charges a premium from a customer over the original Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of a vehicle.

Yamaha’s last price hike was three months ago. Meanwhile, the government is actively working on curbing the practice of ‘own money’ and is trying to ensure affordability in the prices of vehicles. However, the motorcycle industry remains unattended on those fronts.

  • Your old prices are not correct. YBZ was 169000, DX was 182500 and YBR was 188000. You guys are showing prices of january 2021.

Its bad that Yamaha is increasing their prices aprox 5 times a year and no one from the govt. can even take a notice. Their bikes are good, but they are making it difficult to afford good motorcycles in Pakistan.
