Pakistan Gets More Shipments of Moderna and CanSinoBIO Vaccines

The second batch of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine and a shipment of CanSinoBIO’s Coronavirus vaccine arrived at Islamabad Airport earlier today.

According to details, the second consignment consisting of 3 million doses of Moderna’s vaccine has been donated by COVAX, a global initiative aimed at equitable access to Coronavirus vaccines led by GAVI.

COVAX had pledged to donate COVID-19 vaccines for 20% of Pakistan’s population. This is the fifth batch of Coronavirus vaccines donated by COVAX. Apart from Moderna, COVAX has provided COVID-19 vaccines of Pfizer and AstraZeneca to Pakistan.

The first batch consisting of 2.5 million doses of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine donated by the US President, Joe Biden, reached Pakistan earlier this month.

Meanwhile, the shipment of CanSinoBIO’s Coronavirus vaccine consists of 200,000 doses.

Earlier this month, NDMA revealed that 15 million doses of Coronavirus vaccines would reach the country this month, of which more than 90% had been purchased by the government.
