Realme has its hands on an all-new charging system for Android phones that takes inspiration from Apple’s MagSafe technology. The Chinese brand has enabled magnetic wireless charging on Android phones and is calling it MagDart.
The company has now unveiled a whole ecosystem of MagDart chargers and accessories that will make use of the new technology.
First off is the MagDart Case which will add wireless magnetic charging to the Realme GT, which doesn’t natively support the technology. It is a carbon fiber case with magnetic charging in the middle and a fully functioning USB C port at the bottom.
This also means that similar cases can be created for other Realme phones or other brands.
Realme has also revealed details for the two MagDart chargers we saw in leaks over the past week. The hefty square-shaped charger we saw in leaks is a 50W MagDart charger, the fastest magnetic wireless charger on the planet. It can fully charge a 4,500 mAh battery in less than an hour.
This charger has a built-in fan and vents to keep thermals in check during charging since fast charging tends to heat things up quite fast.
Next up, is the 15W MagDart charger, the slim and round charger we saw in leaks, similar to Apple’s MagSafe chargers. This charger is only 3.9 mm thick but can charge a 4,500 mAh battery in only 90 minutes with its 15W power rating.
In contrast, Apple’s 15W MagSafe charger takes three hours to fully charge the iPhone 12 Pro Max which has a 3,687 mAh battery.
Realme also revealed a stand-type MagDart charger, which is actually a 2 in 1 system. The part that supports the phone is a power bank and can be detached from the rest of the device to charge your phone on the go. The charger is made out of fairly attractive vegan leather and aluminum.
The Chinese brand unveiled a number of other accessories as well such as the MagDart Beauty Light, which can use your phone’s reverse wireless charging to light up an LED beauty light with different colors. There is also the MagDart Wallet which can store credit cards and cash and also has a kickstand to help you prop up the phone and watch movies.
It is unclear how much these accessories will cost, but we expect Realme to reveal that once they are launched.
