KP to Provide Free Medical Treatment to Patients With High-Cost Diseases

The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa announced on Wednesday that it will provide free medical treatment to patients suffering from kidney ailments, liver and bone marrow transplants, thalassemia, and eight other diseases.

Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan chaired the meeting in which this decision was taken, and a detailed briefing was given on the procedure and criteria for the provision of free medical treatment to deserving patients.

The provincial government will either include the cost-free treatment of these diseases in the Sehat Plus Card or will launch a separate program for it.

CM Khan has directed concerned officials to provide a researched report on the available options for approval.

He said that the initiative is aimed at providing free medical treatment to the deserving who cannot afford expensive medical treatments.

The distribution of free ration among deserving families under the proposed Food Card Scheme and Education Card was also discussed in the meeting.
