Google to Host a Launch Event on October 5

The Google Pixel 6 lineup is expected to break cover sometime in October, but Google reportedly has another product launch event planned before that. The news comes from XDA’s editor in chief Mishaal Rahman who shared screenshots of a deleted CNET article.

This article shows that Google has a product launch event planned for October 5 where it’s going to reveal new Nest, Maps, and Travel products. The report also says that this launch event has nothing to do with the upcoming Google Pixel phones. Pixel fans will unfortunately have to wait a little longer.

There are not many details for Google’s upcoming products for this event, but we can expect to see the new smart speaker and security devices with incremental improvements. Google Maps and Flights are also definitely getting new improvements and features.

As for the Google Pixel 6, several reports have predicted an October 19 announcement and sales may start on October 28. Google may even announce its first foldable smartphone at this event, the Pixel Fold.

Google has already confirmed several details for the Pixel 6. The phone will feature a 6.4-inch FHD+ display offering a 90Hz refresh rate while the Pro sibling will have a 6.7-inch QHD+ display instead with a 120Hz refresh rate. Both these phones will come with Google’s custom-made chipset, Tensor, with powerful AI and machine learning capabilities.
