The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is taking strict action against all illegal housing societies that are under development in its jurisdiction in Islamabad.
In the question hour, the Minister of State for Law and Justice, Senator Shahadat Awan, informed the Senate on Thursday about 117 illegal housing societies being built in the Islamabad Capital Territory’s (ICT) jurisdiction.
Furthermore, he claimed that notices had been served to them, whereas further investigation is underway. He detailed that certain societies buy a small piece of land but sell more than available plots instead. In connection with this, CDA has commenced a robust media awareness campaign against the builders involved in such unlawful practices.
He added that the Ministry of Interior was also seeing into the public grievances regarding the mentioned issue.
In response to Senator Fawzia Arshad’s question, the Law Minister briefed that around 16 housing societies were registered with the Cooperative Societies Department of Islamabad. Below is the list of registered Cooperative Housing Societies:
Moreover, he clarified that the Layout Plan Approval and No-objection Certificate (NOC) were being issued based on specified terms and conditions by the CDA.
