Xiaomi is confirmed to launch two new foldable phones this month, the Mix Fold 4 and its first-ever flip phone, the Mix Flip
The company’s CEO, Lei Jun, made the announcement online, highlighting that these will be the first devices rolling off the production line at their brand-new Smart Factory in Changping, Beijing.
This impressive facility spans a massive 81,000 square meters and can churn out 10 million flagship phones annually. Xiaomi has invested roughly $330 million into the factory, and details about the technological advancements implemented there were shared on the Chinese social media platform Weibo.
Xiaomi’s new Smart Factory boasts a digital brain – an “intelligent manufacturing platform” according to CEO Lei Jun. This high-tech system can analyze production processes and make its own decisions to improve efficiency. Incredibly, it can even diagnose equipment problems and automatically order new parts.
With the launch of the Mix Fold 4 just around the corner (only 3.5 weeks left in July!), anticipation is building. This flagship foldable phone is expected to be available worldwide, but details on the clamshell-style Mix Flip, Xiaomi’s first foray into this design, remain under wraps. We can likely expect teasers for the Fold 4 to drop very soon.
There are expected to be several other devices at the launch event, likely a new pair of earbuds, a smartwatch, or perhaps a tablet, but there is no confirmation from Xiaomi yet, so take this speculation with a grain of salt.
