Electricity Meter Price for Solar Systems Increased by 50% in Lahore

The cost of meters for connecting to the solar system under the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has surged. Sources reveal that the price of Advance Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters has risen from Rs. 43,000 to Rs. 65,000.

LESCO had previously sold these meters to customers for Rs. 43,000. The reports of a sudden ban on the existing meters caused market prices to spike. It should be noted that LESCO has begun issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for AMI meter purchases.

Previously, customers could buy meters from the market as LESCO’s stock of green meters was depleted.

Earlier, the company had refuted claims about banning Green Electricity Meters. In a statement, a spokesperson clarified that there is no ban on these meters.

Instead, the company will issue NOCs for AMI meters to facilitate consumers. The spokesperson emphasized that AMI meters reduce over-billing and power theft, enhancing billing accuracy and service reliability.
