CDA Approves New Projects Worth Rs. 8 Billion for Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Development Working Party held its 70th meeting on Thursday, chaired by CDA chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting approved four development projects totaling over Rs8 billion.

Senior officials from the Ministries of Interior, Planning, and Finance attended the meeting. A major project for building underpasses at Serena Chowk/Convention Centre was approved to improve traffic flow from Srinagar Highway, Khyaban-e-Suharwardy, and Murree Road.

The Rs4.56 billion project will include underpasses on both sides of Serena Chowk and Srinagar Highway and will be completed in six months. It will also feature three loops towards Khyaban-e-Suharwardy.

Another project worth Rs3.99 billion was approved to manage traffic at the junction of 9th Avenue and Jinnah Avenue. This project will include an underpass, a flyover, and protected U-turns.

Furthermore, a Rs98.88 million project for Resource Planning/Financial Management System was approved. The meeting also approved Rs53.03 million for hiring a consultant firm to establish a four-tier data center in Islamabad.

  • May be this project is better for pakistani but I am no sure this got crash the people 😀

  • Complete these projects as early as possible. These are all important and in fact should have been accomplished long ago. Do not hand over the projects to dishonest, greedy and even government or government-related contractors. Let the honest people, if there are left any in this country, complete the task.

  • Instead of spending billions on bridges, it needs to be invested in education and industrialization. One of the happiest country like Netherlands with a high quality of life, 100% Literacy rate, even at present they are promoting bicycle’s but unfortunately no one thinks about spending money in Education and Industry sector. Once we start getting Billions from our exports then these projects can be started. Our main issue is not lack of roads but education, electricity and lack of opportunity for skilled workers as there is no industry and unfortunately for our own projects we are hiring from out side of Pakistan, because we are not spending on our Education. People are leaving country because of lack of opportunities.

  • Here’s a better idea. Why don’t these “intelligent” policy makers just lay out a large tarmac on the whole of Islamabad and then carve out some space for housing and parks? I’m sure this will save time and re digging for roads every year :/
When will these goons realise that fly overs and widened roads are not the answer to traffic problems. Its traffic sense that needs to be inculcated. The world’s most developed capitals don’t have as many roads as we do but traffic is alot smoother. Reason: Basic traffic sense.

Beneath the facade of facilitating the public obviously lies vested interests with dubious contractors and the under table deals that bring corruption $ with it. This is the reason why they love building roads instead of improving traffic in Pakistan
