The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore has decided to extend its Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program from four years to five years, starting in the 2024–25 session.
This change includes a new modular integrated curriculum.
This decision was approved during the 48th meeting of the UHS Board of Studies in Dentistry, chaired by UHS Vice-Chancellor Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore.
Furthermore, the UHS Board of Governors approved a Rs2,428 million budget for the financial year 2024-25 on June 26, chaired by Justice (retired) Sheikh Ahmad Farooq.
The budget includes Rs82 million for research and scholarships, Rs241.9 million for the annual development plan, and Rs888.4 million for employee salaries. A 25% increase in employee salaries as an ad hoc relief allowance was also approved.
The budget also allocates Rs10 million for the financial assistance of families of deceased employees, Rs65 million for laboratory equipment, Rs50 million for civil works on the Jinnah campus, and Rs250 million for conducting examinations.
It is pertinent to mention that UHS conducts over 750 exams every year.
