An assassination attempt was made at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, but Donald Trump survived the incident, according to a statement from his campaign. Trump was quickly escorted off the stage after apparent gunshots rang through the crowd.
“President Trump appreciates the swift action of law enforcement and first responders during this alarming incident,” said spokesman Steven Cheung. “He is fine and is currently being examined at a local medical facility. Further information will be provided soon.”
During his final rally before the Republican National Convention, Trump was presenting a chart of border crossing figures when the noises were heard. He was seen reaching for his neck with his right hand, and there seemed to be blood on his face.

He promptly took cover behind the riser as his security detail rushed to protect him, and the crowd of several thousand people began screaming. The sounds continued as agents attended to him on stage.
The crowd applauded when he stood up and pumped his fist in the air.
His motorcade has since departed the venue, and his current condition remains unknown.
