The Prime Minister’s office has given approval to shift responsibilities of general upkeep of the PM office from the Pakistan Public Works department to Capital Development Authority (CDA).
The PM office has issued directions to the Secretary Cabinet, Secretary Finance, Secretary Interior, Secretary Housing, and Works and Chairman CDA regarding shifting responsibilities of general upkeep of the PM office from the Pakistan Public Works department to Capital Development Authority (CDA).
The Pakistan Public Works Department (Pak-PWD) is mandated for general upkeep (civil works, electrical & mechanical works and horticulture) of the Prime Minister’s Office (Public), Prime Minister’s Office (Internal) & Prime Minister’s Staff Colony from the regular budget of Housing & Works Division under the relevant heads of Utility, Repair & Maintenance, General and Physical assets as well from the PSDP projects, if any.
In the wake of the recent decision to wind up the Pak-PWD and to ensure uninterrupted provision of services, the Prime Minister has been pleased to direct the following:
The responsibility of repairs/ maintenance, daily upkeep, operational activities, provision of physical assets, payment of utility bills, reimbursement of utilities to entitled officers and all other functions/responsibilities, being earlier undertaken by the Pak PWD, in respect of civil works, electrical & mechanical works and horticulture of the Prime Minister’s Office (Public), Prime Minister’s Office (Internal) & Prime Minister’s Staff Colony shall be shifted to Capital Development Authority (CDA). This transition will be conducted in a coordinated manner to ensure minimal disruption to the functioning of the offices and be completed within fifteen (15) days.
The other issues pertaining to the subject transition shall be settled in the light of the approved recommendations of the Committee for Transition Plan for Winding-up Pakistan Public Works Department (PWD).
