Milk Price Increased by Rs. 15 Per Litre

The district administration of Hyderabad has announced new milk prices in the city following a recommendation from the Livestock Department, ARY News reported.

According to the notification, the price of milk has been set at Rs 215 per liter, an increase of Rs 15. The wholesale rate has been fixed at Rs 200 per liter.

In June, the Commissioner of Karachi also notified new milk prices after discussions with the Dairy Farmers Association. The retail price of milk was set at Rs 220 per liter, an increase of Rs 20 per liter. The wholesale and dairy farmer prices were set at Rs 205 and Rs 195 per liter, respectively.

It is noteworthy that dairy farmers have been advocating for higher dairy product prices despite a decrease in petroleum product prices.

According to the agreement, which ARY News has obtained, the Commissioner of Karachi and dairy farmers reached a consensus. The dairy farmers will adhere to the official price, and noncompliance will result in action.

“The milk sellers will not request further increases until December 31. Dairy farmers must display purchase and sale rates at all levels, and the quality of milk from farms to retailers will be maintained,” the agreement stated.
