The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 offers several upgrades compared to its predecessor, the Z Flip5. One notable improvement is a larger combined battery capacity of 4,000 mAh, up from 3,700 mAh in the previous model.
This has now been showcased up close through a new teardown video shared by PBK Reviews. The disassembly not only shows a larger battery, but a different vapor chamber as well.
This increased battery size was achieved by expanding both battery cells, with the main cell now at 2,870 mAh and the secondary cell at 1,130 mAh. Here are the two different battery cells.
As for the vapor chamber for improved cooling, it is notably larger than the one found in the S24 Ultra. However, reviews have revealed that performance still drops under sustained load, suggesting that even with the vapor chamber, the phone struggles with heat management, a common issue with foldable devices.
Despite the added protection from water and dust, the Z Flip 6 earned a slightly higher repairability score than its predecessor. The primary reason for this improvement is the easier accessibility of the screens for repair.
The phone also managed to survive JerryRigEverything’s popular durability test. The foldable phone was able to withstand being bent the wrong way and passed the particle test against a handful of dust too.
The YouTuber also showcased the multi-layer structure of the outer screen: the first layer being a plastic protector above another layer which might be the mysterious “Shear Thickening Fluid” layer. This is above the Ultra Thin Glass (UTG), which is thicker this year for protection.
