CM Punjab Inaugurates Pakistan’s Largest Free Medicine Warehouse

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the “largest” medicine warehouse project on Wednesday.

She visited the Central Warehouse in Maraka, Lahore, established by the health department, and initiated the distribution of free medicine to various districts.

She instructed that the medicine warehouses in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Multan be made operational as soon as possible. Nine warehouses are now fully operational across the province, each equipped to store large quantities of medications and medical supplies.

She also reviewed the furniture, medical equipment, and other supplies destined for hospitals. Furthermore, CM Maryam checked the expiry dates of the medicines in the warehouse and ensured that the temperature control systems were up to standard.

Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan informed her that the medicine is stored at a controlled temperature in the new warehouses and can be transported as needed.

He also stated that standard furniture, modern medical equipment, medicine trolleys, disposable bed sheets, and other supplies would be distributed to district hospitals throughout the province.

In separate news, Punjab has started working on establishing its first specialized cancer hospital, the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital. The initial phase of the project will feature 150 beds. The initial phase of the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital, covering 333 kanal, will include 100 beds for adults and 50 for children, along with dedicated facilities for chemotherapy.
