The salaries and benefits for Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) have been disclosed. Each MNA receives a base salary of Rs 150,000 per month, with additional allowances totaling Rs 38,000, making their monthly earnings Rs 188,000.
A chairman of a Standing Committee earns an extra Rs 25,000, bringing their total to Rs 213,000 monthly. MNAs also receive Rs 8,800 for each session of the National Assembly or Standing Committee they attend.
Travel expenses include Rs 150 per kilometer for air travel and Rs 25 per kilometer for road travel. They are also given annual travel vouchers worth Rs 300,000, Rs 90,000 in cash, and 30 business class open tickets.
In other news, the Punjab Assembly has approved spending Rs 180 million on luxury vehicles. This includes a Toyota Land Cruiser for the Speaker at Rs 100 million and a Toyota Fortuner for the Deputy Speaker at Rs 22.5 million.
The finance committee, led by the Speaker, also approved a Toyota Fortuner for the Assembly Secretary and two Hilux Vigo trucks for the Speaker’s security, costing a total of Rs 30 million.
