University Student Finds Oil Reserves in KP

A University of Punjab MPhil student has discovered oil reservoirs in thousand-year-old limestone mountains in the Kohistan salt range.

Noman Zeb, from PU’s geology department and supervised by Dr. Shahid Ghazi, identified significant oil reservoirs in the Khajar, Taral, Badshahpur, Kroli, and Sarhi areas, according to Daily Naibaat. These reservoirs are located within limestone sediments.

Noman Zeb noted that his study also revealed similar mountain ranges in the Potohar Range. He emphasized that a substantial quantity of oil can be extracted from these areas under government supervision. Utilizing these reservoirs could help reduce the power shortage affecting the country.
