In a shocking incident, authorities in Sargodha found a beggar carrying over Rs. 500,000 in cash along with a passport containing a Saudi Arabian visa.
According to a private news channel, a rescue team was called to help an elderly man found unconscious on Khushab Road. Soon after receiving the call, the rescue team arrived and immediately rushed him to the DHQ Hospital for urgent medical care.
While treating him, hospital staff discovered Rs. 534,000 and a passport on the elderly man. Further checks showed that he had previously traveled to Saudi Arabia several times, holding valid visas.
According to District Emergency Officer Mazhar Shah, locals had reported the man as a beggar in the area. After receiving medical care, the man was released from the hospital, and the rescue team returned the cash and the passport to him.
Last year, it was revealed that 90% of professional beggars arrested in Middle Eastern nations hail from Pakistan. Since then the government has intensified its crackdown against such individuals.
Earlier this month, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) offloaded eight women from a Saudi Arabia-bound flight at Multan Airport. “The women were allegedly traveling to Saudi Arabia to beg,” stated a spokesperson from the FIA’s immigration wing.
