Cabinet Approves Signing of MoU With China for Collaboration in 6 Key Sectors

The federal cabinet on the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Pakistan and China for collaboration in manufacturing, new energy vehicles, textiles, agricultural processing, pharmaceuticals, and information technology sectors.

This MoU, initially proposed by the Ministry of Commerce, aims to bolster trade cooperation between both countries, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The cabinet approved the charter legislation for the National University of Modern Languages ​​in Islamabad recommended by the Ministry of Federal Education and Vocational Training. The meeting also approved the establishment of King Hammad University of Nursing & Associated Medical Sciences, a project supported by Bahrain.

The premier was presented with an inter-ministerial committee report on missing persons which detailed internal challenges stemming from terrorism post-Afghan war. The report detailed efforts over the past decade and recent actions taken by the 2023 caretaker government. The cabinet confirmed the committee’s recommendations and sanctioned a relief package of Rs. 5 million for families of missing individuals.

The cabinet also ratified the decisions made by the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises on July 22, 2024.
