Despite facing a financial crisis, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has decided to increase the salaries, allowances, and benefits of its ministers and cabinet members.
According to a private news channel, the provincial government has decided to enhance the salaries, allowances, and benefits of its ministers.
As per the documents, the government will provide a housing subsidy of Rs 2 lakh per month to ministers based in Peshawar. Approval for this subsidy will be obtained from the cabinet.
It is pertinent to mention that earlier this year, the provincial government approved the Ministerial Perks and Salary Amendment Bill.
One of the notable amendments included a significant increase in the monthly house rent allowance for cabinet members, skyrocketing from Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 200,000.
Under the updated policy, cabinet members without government-provided housing can now rent a property costing up to Rs. 200,000 per month, with utility expenses also covered.
The bill also includes a major rise in the budget for renovating cabinet members’ homes, escalating from Rs. 500,000 to Rs. 1 million.
