Irregularities Worth Rs. 750 Million Uncovered at Islamabad Club

The Auditor General of Pakistan has uncovered massive financial irregularities amounting to Rs. 750 million while auditing Islamabad Club.

A detailed audit report seen by ProPakistani reveals that the club suffered a loss of Rs. 199.2 million during the financial year 2022-23, yet employees were awarded bonuses totaling Rs. 100 million.

The Auditor General identified Rs. 300 million spent illegally on in-house schemes without proper estimation and measurement. Notable expenses highlighted in the audit report were Rs. 14.4 million for constructing a lake near a cricket ground and Rs. 16.1 million for procurement of floodlights without open bidding.

The report also highlights the non-receipt of Rs. 104.5 million in fees from club members and Rs. 93.6 million spent on civil works without design approval from the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

Additionally, Rs. 25 million was paid against refunds for corporate membership fees, and another Rs. 105 million was spent on various development projects. The report took strong notice of hiring of a consultant for Rs. 4.4 million without open competition.

  • Great.. corruption uncovered but is anyone going to be held responsible & arrested or it will be another MITI PAO.

  • Very sad, but has this kind of audit-report come to our knowledge & coming in media for the first time?

    Thought provoking!

  • The club is run as a personal property of the administrator. There is no accountability and there will be none in the future. The club management is totally corrupt therefore all rules are broken to please themselves. This beautiful club is being destroyed slowly but surely.

  • The news lack major details which proves it was nothing but copy paste to fill the website. It should not be that hard for reporters to find who was appointed as head when the hefty amounts were spent.

  • Very poor reporting. No names mentioned of who is guilty. Why are they anonymous Is this really news?
The norm is corruption in Pakistan thanks to the Establishment bureaucracy govt.
It’s hard to believe audit actually exists in Pakistan and that it was actually preformed.
If any institution in Pakistan IS corruption free, now THAT is newsworthy!
Stop wasting people’s time by giving half baked incomplete news.
