Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given in-principle approval for three models under the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar program. This announcement was made during a meeting presided over by the Chief Minister on Sunday.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed authorities to expedite the program and refrain from charging service fees from plot borrowers. The Chief Minister’s official inauguration of the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar program is scheduled for August 14.
The meeting highlighted that model houses had been developed as a pilot for the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar program. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized the inclusion of living rooms in the design of these model houses, ensuring they meet the needs of future homeowners.
In a bid to facilitate the public, the Chief Minister has ordered the introduction of toll-free numbers for inquiries and support related to the program. Additionally, on her directive, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will develop a special portal for the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar program. This portal will enable aspirants to submit their applications online from the comfort of their homes.
Secretary Housing Captain (Rtd) Asadullah Khan provided a comprehensive briefing on the program. The meeting was informed that application forms for Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar can be obtained from the offices of deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners.
The program offers significant financial support for plot owners. Those owning up to 5 marla plots will be eligible for interest-free loans to build their houses. Furthermore, the Chief Minister has ensured that house owners will have the facility to repay these loans in easy installments, easing the financial burden on them.
Allottees of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) will benefit from the program by acquiring 3 and 5 marla houses in private schemes. These allottees will pay house installments over five years after purchasing the houses. To further reduce the housing cost burden in these private schemes, the Punjab Government will provide subsidies.
The meeting concluded with important decisions to ensure the successful implementation of the program. About 70,000 plot owners in various cities and villages across Punjab will be able to avail themselves of loans under this initiative.
